Northampton

This town is located just 52Km north of Geraldton. This can be found at the Mid West part of Western Australia. This town only has a population of 813, this census was still on 2006. This has an excellent National Trust Building and this place is very historic. Located at the North West Coastal Highway, this town was used to be called Gwalla because of the copper mine of the place. It was Joseph Horrocks, a former Cornish ex-convict, who established this place. This is the service town closest to the Principality of Hutt River micronation. This place is famous for its indigents, Bower River cave paintings and wildflowers.

Transport

Wagons used to move materials towards this place, later on, a railway was finally constructed to make transports faster. The railway that the government constructed runs through Northampton from Geraldton to Ajana. This railway was opened back in 1879. This was the first ever railway built in Western Australia. This line closed on 1957 to open up for new ones.

Perth

Perth is the capital city of Western Australia. It is also the biggest city in Western Australia. This is also the fourth in the list of most populous cities in Australia. There are around 1.7 million people in the metropolitan area of Perth. The metropolitan area can be found at the South West Division of Western Australia. You will also be able to find the business district and the central district of Perth at the Swan River banks. It was founded back in 1982 right after the establishment of Fremantle. It was Captain James Stirling who established Perth as the center of the Swan River colony. Perth is a fast growing city. One of the major reasons for this growth is because it is the business and administration center of the state of the Western Australia. Perth is internationally known as the “City of Light.” This is because the city’s residents and streetlights all turned on their lights as John Glenn, and American Astronaut, passed by the city back in 1962 while on the Friendship7. Perth is in the eight place in the list of the World’s Most Livable Cities in 2011 in the Economist.

Geology

Perth is named after the black swans that live in this area. Willem de Vlamingh gave this city its name back in 1697. He is a Dutch who is a captain of an expedition. He also named the Rottnes Island in WA. The center of the city and most of its suburbs can be found at the Swan Coastal Plain, which is relatively flat. The soil in this place is not that fertile. Perth used to be a series of freshwater wetlands which stretches from Herdman lake to Claisebrook.
